Desktop Business Services Limited (DBS) has been established since 1998. It was started in order to offer small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) an affordable solution to business consultancy. Affik Choudhury, the founder and managing director of the company, has a background in accounting and IT and has recently completed a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree. Initially, Affik wanted to offer solutions to SMEs that could save them time, money and increase productivity.

Although DBS wasn't targeting any particular sector, it found itself doing more and more work for law firms. It seemed as though they were a lot further behind in terms of IT use and development then other industries. Also, many of their operations leant themselves to computerization. Instead of reinventing the wheel, DBS entered into a reseller agreement with a company called Lexis Nexis Visualfiles (then known as Solicitec) who have a suite of award winning case management products for the legal profession and are a leader in the field

As a reseller, DBS has successfully completed many projects including upgrades for Local Authorities and Universities from Solcase version 5 to version 7. This includes migrating their databases to the latest version of Progess, training their administrators & end users, providing consultancy to tailor their packages to use the added functionality of Version 7 and providing project and change management.
